Urban ReLEAF

Urban ReLEAF Program of CUGS creates volunteering opportunities for citizens, young and old alike, to contribute to the cause of urban regreening. Urban ReLEAF also provides technical assistance to urban commmunity organisations for assessing and enhancing the effectiveness of Urban Green Spaces in their areas. Urban ReLEAF professionals (CUGS staff as well as volunteers) help local communities by:
  • Helping plan planting programs
  • identifying species best suited for identified planting sites
  • linking communities with government run nurseries for free supply of planting stock
  • assessing urban green spaces on various parameters and suggest improvement measures
  • designing signage/interpretation tools to enhance educational value of urban regreening efforts
  • conduct studies to assess/document the impact of urban green spaces on quality of life of local residents
  • developing community managed volunteering programs to involve local youth and senior citizens with tasks associated with urban green space management
  • recognise efforts of exceptionally committed individuals/organisations at various ceremonial occasions

Urban ReLEAF program is currently operational in the Delhi/National Capital Region. Individuals/institutions interested in getting associated with Urban ReLEAF in other cities are welcome to contact
